Kiwi Berry Cocktail

While grocery shopping at Trader Joe’s last weekend, we came across some kiwi berries.  I’ve actually never seen them before, nor ever heard of them either.  They look like mini mangoes on the outside, and mini kiwis on the inside.  I thought it would be perfect as a garnish for an interesting cocktail.

We googled and pinterested a few cocktails and decided to mix recipes.  Here’s what we came up with…

I cut up 6 kiwi berries in half.  Mixed it with about 2 oz of gin, 2 oz of fresh lime juice, 1/2 oz of simple syrup and muddled it together.  I placed an oversized ice cube in a short rocks glass, and then strained the mixture over the glass to get rid of the thick berry pulp.  I poured club soda to the top, lightly mixed it, then added tiny kiwi berry slices for extra adorableness.  It’s too cute.
